1. How long/often do sessions run?
Typically our sessions last one hour and meet once per week. Often parents will seek to schedule numerous sessions back to back to provide more support or to work on various skills. During the summer we offer a morning camp which runs for 2.5 hours and meets Monday-Friday. We also offer a variety of afternoon programs that can be scheduled to provide a full day of services. Check out our Summer Camp and ESY pages for more information. Our terms during the year run for 10 weeks with one or two weeks off in between terms. Our summer term is 6 weeks.
2. Do you take insurance?
At the moment we do not directly accept insurance. We do, however, have a provider number and can include necessary information on our invoices to allow submittal for reimbursement from insurance companies. Many of our parents have had success getting reimbursement and we are always willing to provide any information that will help this process.
We also can be contracted with some local school districts if a social goal is listed in a child's IEP. We can provide the services to address that IEP goal at that time.
3. Do you take Medical Assistance or ACCESS?
At this time we do not, however, please check back as we are working out how to possibly begin this in the near future.
4. How do I get started?
To begin enrollment we will schedule an intake session. This session is 30 minutes long and gives us an opportunity to meet you and your young person, as well as get you familiar with our space. We will typically spend about 15 minutes with your young person to get an idea of who they are, and what their needs might be as well as 15 minutes with parents to discuss goals and answer any questions about the program. Often during this meeting a suggestion for a group or individual will be made. If not, we will contact you as programs begin with recommendations.
5. How do you put groups together?
We are very careful about how we group individuals to make sure that the experience is beneficial and positive for all participants. We look at things like age, eye contact ability, language, social/play skill ability, strengths and needs. We strive to put together groups who will share similar goals and needs while also providing a good balance, support and challenge level for each other. It is essential that groups provide a positive social environment so that gains can be made toward individual goals.
